Facilities Maintenance Assistant The Facilities Maintenance Assistant supports the care, cleanliness, safety, and basic repair of parish buildings and grounds. This position requires a dependable self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency response as needed. Schedule: Part-time with potential for full-time; includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compensation: Hourly; based on experience and ability.
Reports to: Facilities Manager, or as directed by the Business Manager.
Primary Responsibilities • Perform custodial and light maintenance work, including cleaning, basic repairs, painting, furniture assembly, and upkeep of parish buildings, social hall spaces, grounds, and common areas. • Inspect, troubleshoot, and support the safe operation of building systems and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fire and safety systems, and other facility infrastructure. • Assist with event setup and teardown, sanitation, seasonal and exterior work such as snow removal and debris pickup, and emergency response for facility-related issues. • Maintain organized work areas, support preventative maintenance scheduling, complete service requests in a timely manner, and help keep accurate maintenance and repair records. • Communicate maintenance needs clearly, obtain quotes and coordinate with contractors as requested, assist with related administrative tasks, and perform other assigned facilities duties.
Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required; additional training or education in maintenance, facilities, or a related field preferred. • Three or more years of relevant maintenance or facilities experience preferred.
Additional Requirements • Ability to use email and related communication tools to receive assignments and communicate effectively by phone, text, and email. • Must successfully complete required Ohio BCI/FBI background checks. • Must complete required VIRTUS training provided by the employer. • Must have the physical stamina and dexterity to perform indoor and outdoor maintenance work, including lifting, climbing, shoveling, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and similar physical tasks.
