Benedictine High School is seeking a qualified Flag Team Coach for the marching band’s 2026-2027 season. The coach will be responsible for teaching flag technique, choreography, and performance skills, while fostering teamwork, discipline, and artistic expression.

About the Marching Band and Flag Team: The marching band includes students in grades 9-12 from both Benedictine and Beaumont School. The color guard is part of the marching band, which performs at all varsity football games, as well as a few band shows and parades throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities: Design and teach routines for field shows and parades. Instruct students in flag techniques and clean routines. Plan and lead rehearsals in coordination with the band director. Attend scheduled practices, performances, and band camp. Provide individual and group feedback to improve performance quality. Promote proper warm-up, conditioning, and injury prevention practices. Maintain and organize equipment, uniforms, and practice materials. Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff. Uphold school and program policies and expectations
Qualifications: Experience performing with flags in marching band. Experience coaching high school students is preferred. Strong knowledge of flag technique and performance fundamentals. Ability to choreograph routines that are visually compelling and match the band music/show theme. Ability to teach students of varying skill levels. Ability to break down complex movements into smaller, teachable steps. Leadership skills and the ability to motivate, mentor, and maintain discipline among students. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Clear and effective communication with students, staff, and parents. Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
Schedule and Time Commitment: Band camp from July 27-31 and August 3-7, 8am-4pm each day. Weekly sectionals in June/early July (schedule determined by coach). Weekly rehearsals on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:30-5:30pm, starting in August. Friday night availability at football games is preferred. Occasional Saturday availability for band shows/parades is preferred (August 15, September 19, and October 3). Season Duration: June 2026-November 2026
Compensation: To be determined based on coach availability.
