MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES -Assist first grade teachers in supporting the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students in both first grade classrooms. -Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce classroom instruction and support student learning. -Provide classroom support during instructional time, transitions, centers, and other daily classroom activities. -Help maintain a nurturing, safe, organized, and Christ-centered learning environment. -Support teachers in preparing classroom materials, organizing supplies, copying resources, and maintaining classroom displays. -Assist with classroom management and encourage positive student behavior through consistent expectations and guidance. -Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties. -Build positive relationships with students through encouragement, patience, and support. -Collaborate effectively with first grade teachers, support staff, and administration to meet student needs and school-wide goals. -Maintain professional and respectful relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. -Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist with school events, field trips, liturgies, and other activities as needed. -Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters. -Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required. -Demonstrate consistent attendance to maintain a focus on student learning and classroom continuity.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES Education/Certification/Experience: High school diploma required; associate’s degree or prior experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: -Ability to work effectively with young children in a classroom setting. -Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills. -Ability to support classroom routines and foster a positive learning environment. -Patience, flexibility, initiative, and genuine care for children. -Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality. -Commitment to supporting the mission and Catholic identity of Holy Trinity School. Must complete all required diocesan and state clearances, including background checks and VIRTUS certification.
