COMPENSATION: Seasonal Stipend.

OUR ORGANIZATION Saint Martin de Porres High School is a Catholic, college-preparatory program designed exclusively for students of modest means. Eighty percent of our students will be the first in their extended families to go to college. Our rigorous curriculum, which includes students working in a corporate environment, was designed specifically for our school by a committee of prestigious educational leaders. Saint Martin was founded in 2003 and is chartered by the state of Ohio and accredited through the Ohio Catholic Schools Accrediting Association. Our mission is to help our scholars become College Ready and Career Prepared, with a commitment to the values of work, study, service, leadership and prayer. We are a part of the Cristo Rey Network of schools founded in 2001.

POSITION SUMMARY We are actively seeking a new Head Girls Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 season. Provides leadership, vision, and direction for the Girls Basketball program at Saint Martin de Porres High School, grounded in the school’s Catholic mission and values. Cultivates a positive, competitive team culture that develops student-athletes in skill, character, and confidence, while supporting their academic growth. Oversees all aspects of the program, including coaching, player development, and program operations, to build a strong and meaningful athletic experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW: -The season runs from late November through February, with practices beginning in mid-November. -Plan and lead daily practices and coach all games, fostering skill development, teamwork, and a competitive team culture. -Support the holistic growth and development of student-athletes, both on and off the court. -Team competes in approximately 20 regular-season games, followed by postseason play. -Practices are primarily held after school (times may vary), with practices and games scheduled Monday through Friday and occasional Saturdays. -Organize and facilitate summer and fall open gyms to support player development, skill-building, and program continuity. -Compete at the Division III level as an independent program, representing Saint Martin de Porres High School with professionalism and integrity. -Adhere to all Ohio High School Athletic Association requirements (i.e., meetings, regulations, pupil activity permit, etc.)

EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: -Bring prior coaching experience (high school level preferred); experience working in an urban school setting is a plus. -Must possess, or be able to obtain, an active Pupil Activity Permit before the start of the season.

REQUIRED SKILLS: -Working knowledge of Ohio High School Athletic Association rules and regulations -Ability to effectively engage parents and student-athletes -Clear and effective communicator, both verbally and in writing -Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead student-athletes; positive and engaging presence -Strong organizational skills with attention to detail -Understanding of student scheduling dynamics of a Cristo Rey school and the ability to support academic priorities -Results-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement -Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently
