International Programs Director: St. Edward High School

Position Description: Develops, coordinates, plans and oversees all international initiatives for our students, which may or may not include parents. Following the mission of the Holy Cross Congregation plans and attends international travel trips, exchange programs, cultural immersions and Model United Nation (MUN) events. Mission: St. Edward High School educates the hearts and minds of a diverse group of young men to have the competence to see and the courage to act as men of hope and faith for the transformation of the world.

Goals: Saint Edward High School, an International Baccalaureate World School, encourages our students to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners with international awareness.

Responsibilities: ● Sources and leverages a diverse group of contacts across the globe to provide world-wide educational opportunities for our students with the purpose of gaining practical hands-on experience and global awareness along with empathetic understanding of different cultures and life styles throughout the world. ● Builds relationships with global contacts who can provide insight into sharing cultural experiences of the lives and norms of those living across the globe. ● Coordinates international travel programs, including logistics, risk management and student supervision. ● Promotes cultural awareness through school-wide events, activities and professional development of staff. ● Manages the school’s budget for International activities and provides supporting documentation for all expenses as required. ● Teaches two classes per semester. ● Collaborates with academic departments to integrate global perspectives into the school’s curriculum. ● Creates and leads committees and student groups related to global education. ● Creates and maintains an International Programs handbook for students, parents and staff, including processes and operational responsibilities of each person involved with international travel. ● Ensures all required documentation for international travel is completed and filed appropriately, including medical documents and vaccines as needed. ● Coordinates and leads the Model United Nations efforts for St. Edward High School, recruiting students for our MUN program, teaching students in the MUN ways and knowledge to be successful at competitions, attending international conferences and MUN competitions, hosting MUN events and other duties associated with a positive MUN experience for our students.

Qualifications: ● State of Ohio Teaching license or non-tax Oh Dept of Education license ● Experience working in international education in a lead planning capacity ● Demonstrated strong understanding of international student support, cultural transitions and global education trends ● Excellent communicator with superb follow-through skills ● Successful relationship builder and negotiator ● Experience working with high school age students
