2026-27 St. Mary of the Assumption School Junior High Reading Teacher
St. Mary of the Assumption School in Mentor is seeking a passionate and dedicated junior high reading teacher (with an 8th grade homeroom) for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidate must foster a positive, nurturing classroom environment, maintain good classroom management while supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development; collaborate with grade-level colleagues and support staff to meet the diverse learning needs of students; create supportive and respectful relationships with students to promote both academic and personal growth. Candidate must utilize varied instructional strategies and assessments to monitor student progress, provide ongoing feedback and maintain accurate gradebooks in a timely manner, and communicate regularly and effectively with parents to support student success. Candidate must participate actively in faculty meetings, school events, and committees.
Applicants must have the following qualifications: Hold a valid Ohio teaching license with appropriate certification to teach 6th-8th grades, ability to successfully pass background check through FBI and BCI, hold or be willing to obtain VIRTUS certification, and must comply with all school, state, and diocesan requirements.
