The Jesuit Retreat Center, located in Parma, OH, has an opening for a live-in guestmaster/ caretaker. This is an on-site position which is primarily a “ministry of presence”. The role involves overnight supervision of the facility, in the absence of other staff. The primary responsibility is to provide a dependable presence on-site, welcoming guests and being available to respond to any occasional after-hours needs or emergencies. The position requires overnight presence five-six nights per week and generally full day on Saturday.

This is an ideal position for a retired/semi-retired person or graduate student. The role includes a private suite at the JRC with living room, bedroom, bathroom, storage space and a garage parking space. The role provides free internet and cable TV as well as meals provided by JRC food service. There is a monthly stipend.

The Jesuit Retreat Center is the longest continuously operating retreat center in the United States. Each year we welcome more than 5,000 individuals to the center. Approximately 75% of our retreatants arrive as part of a high school, college, church, or other hosted group. The remaining 25% are participants in JRC retreats and programs. We host individuals for day, overnight, weekend and multiple day and night staffs.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. A fliexible and outgoing personality, able to deal with a variety of tasks. References and background check will be required prior to an offer of employment. Position begins January 4, 2026.
