This full-time position will include planning for and teaching mathematics and leadership of one student advisory. The preferred candidate will have experience teaching high school mathematics and a willingness to participate in the extracurricular and faith formation life of the school. Core Responsibilities Plan for and teach five sections of mathematics courses (typically three course preps), lead an advisory, and fulfill one proctoring assignment. Teach a combination of courses: Algebra 1 through Advanced Placement classes. Design and facilitate engaging college-preparatory student learning activities that align with our school standards. Assess student understanding and performance in such a way that both motivates and provides a fair and accurate measure of student learning. Create a focused, student-centered learning environment that encourages meaningful learning, cooperation, and a productive use of time. Participate actively in the mission and extracurricular life of the school.
Qualifications Required A deep understanding of Mathematics and an excitement to share that knowledge. Bachelor's degree (BS / BA) in Mathematics, Mathematics Education (secondary), or Master's Degree in Mathematics or Secondary Education, Mathematics. Current Ohio teaching license in AYA Integrated Mathematics or eligibility to obtain. Experience teaching in a high school or other classroom setting.
Preferred: Master's Degree in Mathematics or Undergraduate degree in Mathematics. Experience working with adolescents and an understanding of their developmental and social-emotional needs. Familiarity with college-preparatory Catholic, Jesuit education. About Saint Ignatius High School: Saint Ignatius High School, which opened its doors September 6, 1886, is a Jesuit college-preparatory school. The school enrolls more than 1,400 young men who hail from 96 cities in a nine-county region. Academically, Saint Ignatius is a regional and state leader in National Merit finalists. To challenge students and prepare them for college, the Saint Ignatius curriculum offers 21 Advanced Placement (AP) and 32 honors courses.
