Position Summary
The Minister of Communication and Evangelization serves at the intersection of ministry and media. This individual is responsible for helping St. John Vianney Parish live out its mission of proclaiming the Gospel by using both traditional and modern communication methods to invite people—especially those on the margins or distant from the Church—into a deeper relationship with the Catholic faith.
This position requires close collaboration with the parish priests, school staff, and parish leadership to communicate the mission of the parish and foster evangelization.
Key Responsibilities
Communication

Develop a working understanding of the parish's existing technology (hardware and software), identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend upgrades as needed.

Provide first-line technology troubleshooting before engaging outside consultants.

Develop and implement a strategic communications plan using digital and traditional media to reach parishioners and the broader community.

Apply marketing principles to effectively communicate the parish's mission and ministries.

Manage the parish's digital presence, including social media platforms and online content.

Increase parish proficiency and engagement across social media and web platforms.

Produce and support parish communications, including the bulletin, newsletter, and VianneyVoice.

Capture parish life through photography and video for use in communications and evangelization.
Evangelization

Design and implement creative and effective evangelization initiatives and programs.

Maintain a visible and welcoming presence at weekend liturgies, holy days, and parish celebrations.

Participate in special parish events, including XLT (Exposition, Praise & Worship), Confirmations, Baptisms, and other community gatherings.

Assist the priests in teaching and facilitating the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) process.

Coordinate parish-wide evangelization efforts.

Oversee and maintain sacramental records, including baptisms and parish registrations.

Build relationships and partnerships within the local community to extend the parish's outreach and mission.
General and Administrative

Promote the mission, ministries, and activities of both the parish and school within the wider community.

Ensure parish programs are properly documented in accordance with parish and diocesan policies.

Follow all diocesan, parish, and pastoral guidelines.

Partner with the business office to pursue grant opportunities and assist with budget preparation and financial reports for the Finance Council.

Collaborate with parish staff to promote parish-wide events and initiatives.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

Must be a fully initiated, practicing Catholic living in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Solid understanding of Catholic theology and a willingness to continue faith formation.

Proficiency with:

Social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram).

Digital parish communication tools (e.g., Flocknote).

Photo, video, and audio production software (e.g., iMovie, Adobe Premiere Pro).

Graphic design software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva).

Strong public speaking, presentation, and small-group facilitation skills.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and maintain a positive sense of humor.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Experience working effectively with volunteers.

Successful completion of a criminal background check and VIRTUS Safe Environment training.

Three professional references.
Preferred
-
Three to five years of experience in Catholic parish ministry.
Salary Range
$40,000–$45,000 annually
