Position Title: Parish Bookkeeper Reports to: Pastor and Parish Business Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary The Parish Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the parish. This role supports the pastor and business manager by ensuring that parish resources are used wisely, transparently, and in support of the parish’s mission and ministries.

Key Responsibilities Financial Management • Maintain accurate accounting records for all parish operations in accordance with diocesan policies. • Prepare and monitor budgets, financial statements, and reports for the pastor, business manager and finance council. • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations. • Ensure compliance with all diocesan, state, and federal financial requirements. Stewardship & Compliance • Provide transparent reporting to parishioners regarding parish finances. • Support parish fundraising, offertory collection procedures, and annual diocesan appeal. • Ensure compliance with diocesan audits, policies, and best practices.

Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field experience (CPA preferred but not required). • 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, business management, or related role. • Knowledge of non-profit financial management; parish or diocesan experience strongly preferred. • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills. • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic Church. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and parishioners. • Part time 15-20 hours a week. • Salary commensurate with education and experience; benefits per diocesan policy. • Pass a Criminal Background Check and maintain compliance with Virtus and diocesan policies for the protection of children and vulnerable adults.

Range

18,000 — 24,000
