Position Overview
The Principal of Saint Raphael School serves as the spiritual, academic, and administrative leader of the school community. The Principal provides overall leadership to facilitate the development of the total school community toward the goal of providing students with the highest quality Catholic educational experience.
The Principal ensures that the mission and philosophy of Saint Raphael School are reflected in all aspects of school life and works collaboratively with the Pastor, parish leadership, faculty, staff, families, and the broader community to foster academic excellence, faith formation, and a safe and nurturing learning environment.
The Principal is responsible for spiritual leadership, instructional leadership, personnel management, financial stewardship, student and program evaluation, public relations, long-range planning, and the day-to-day operation of the school.
This is a full-time position for the academic year, issued under an annual contract. Contracts are reviewed and renewed each year based on mutual agreement and school needs.
Mission and Spiritual Leadership
The Principal shall:

Foster and model a community of faith grounded in Gospel values and Catholic teachings.

Promote faith formation opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.

Support integration of Catholic identity and values throughout curriculum, activities, and school culture.

Collaborate with the Pastor and parish staff to strengthen the communication and relationship between parish and school.
Academic and Instructional Leadership
The Principal shall:

Provide leadership in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation consistent with diocesan standards and best educational practices.

Promote academic excellence through the use of student achievement data and instructional best practices.

Support teachers in effective instructional methods, differentiation, and assessment.

Facilitate faculty meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning.

Ensure programs meet the diverse academic, spiritual, and social needs of students.

Remain informed of current educational trends, technology, and research-based practices.
Administrative and Operational Leadership
The Principal shall:

Oversee the daily administration and operation of the school.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, diocesan, and accrediting agency policies and regulations.

Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.

Supervise health, safety, transportation, and operational procedures.

Delegate responsibilities appropriately to ensure efficient school operations.

Oversee building maintenance in collaboration with custodial staff and parish leadership.
Personnel Leadership
The Principal shall:

Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff.

Foster a professional culture characterized by collaboration, respect, and accountability.

Support staff growth by identifying and developing individual talents and strengths.

Conduct regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

Maintain open and consistent communication with faculty and staff.
Financial and Development Leadership
The Principal shall:

Develop and administer the annual school budget in collaboration with the Pastor and parish finance personnel.

Monitor expenditures and ensure responsible fiscal management.

Support enrollment, development, and fundraising efforts.

Promote stewardship and responsible use of school resources.
Community and Public Relations
The Principal shall:

Serve as the primary representative of Saint Raphael School within the parish and broader community.

Foster positive relationships with parents, parishioners, and community organizations.

Encourage parent involvement in the educational mission of the school.

Communicate effectively and regularly with school stakeholders.

Demonstrate flexibility and availability for weekend and evening parish/school events.

Promote the mission and strengths of Saint Raphael School through positive outreach and engagement.
Planning and Professional Growth
The Principal shall:

Collaborate with parish leadership in long-range planning.

Develop annual and strategic goals aligned with the school’s mission.

Maintain active membership in professional organizations.
-
Participate in ongoing professional development and diocesan initiatives.
Qualifications
The Principal shall:
-
Be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
-
Hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration or related field.
-
Possess a valid Ohio Elementary Principal License.

Demonstrate successful teaching and leadership experience.

Possess or be willing to obtain Catechetical Leader Certification.

Demonstrate knowledge of school finance, curriculum leadership, and personnel management.

Exhibit integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative leadership style consistent with Catholic education.
Relationships

Reports directly to the Pastor.

Works collaboratively with the diocesan Office of Catholic Education.

Supervises all faculty and staff.

Collaborates with parish ministries and parent organizations.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with experience; includes full benefits.
