Saint Joseph Academy is seeking a Special Education Aide for the duration of the second semester of the 2025-26 school year. This position reports to the Principal. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Rate range: $18/50/hr-$20/hr Position Overview Support the Academy’s efforts to meet the physical and instructional needs of individual students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom. Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP), including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. This position follows the school calendar.
Essential Skills ● Strong attention to detail with a high level of organization, consistency, and focus ● Understanding of the need to respect confidentiality, especially as it pertains to parents and student information ● Ability to develop effective working relationships with community members, faculty, staff, students, and other stakeholders.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities ● Provides assistance with handling the unique needs of Special Education students ● Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs ● Assists teachers in counseling parents on the requirements and development of their children ● Observes and supports students as directed by the teacher and records specific behaviors exhibited as outlined on each student's IEP ● Reinforces students as directed by the teacher in areas which might include academic tasks, social skills or other instructional components of the program ● Chaperones off-site vocational experiences; assists with job related skill building, independence and communication with work site employers/employees ● Assists the teacher in the implementation of behavior management programs and records academic and social progress as required by the teacher ● Assists and monitors the students in special training activities, such as self-help and self-care skills ● Provides information to teacher regarding student performance during these activities ● Identifies, locates and uses materials appropriate for each student ● Assists the teacher in preparing, collecting, adapting, and maintenance of equipment, supplies, or materials ● Assists teacher with physical intervention of behavior issues ● Supports teachers and students with extracurricular activities and school functions. ● Performs other routine duties as assigned by principal Requirements ● Ohio Educational Aide Permit ● Minimum 2 years related experience ● Proficiency with Google Workspace ● Commitment to the Catholic education of young women in the tradition of the Congregation of St. Joseph
