We often have people say "what is Marriage Mentoring?" Quite simply we work to find couples in all different situations from first-time marriage to second-time marriage, marriage later in life or blended families to walk with couples entering into the beginnings of a healthy marriage. Marriage Mentoring is being identified as a strong predictor for the success of a marriage,
The Marriage and Family Ministry offices host Marriage Mentor training for couples that clergy or Lay ministers have identified as potential Marriage Mentors. The Mentoring Couples are practicing their Catholic faith and have currently stable relationships. They aren't perfect but they are willing to share their time helping other couples. Ideally, during the one year ahead of marriage these couples meet about 4 times and they follow the newly married couple for a few meetings after the ceremony working on skills developed through Prepare-Enrich. Seasoned mentors or couples that have a counseling background for example can help couples that might be struggling in their marriage by assisting them with workbook activities developed from Prepare-Enrich inventory.
