January 22nd: National Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children

Consider making a Holy Hour this day (not sure what a Holy Hour is? Learn more here). From 5:00pm - 8:00pm, prayer events occurring at the National Basilica in Washington will be televised by EWTN and livestreamed on the Basilica's Webpage. Additionally, the Basilica will live-stream seminarian-led Holy Hours throughout the night (9:00pm - 8:00am).

Pray with the readings for the Mass for Life

"Mother Church earnestly desires that all the faithful be led to that full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations...this full and active participation by all people is the aim to be considered before all else" (SC, Vatican II, no.14).

We become more active in mass the more we prepare for it! One way to do this is to pray with the Scripture passages that will be preached during the Mass. Consider using Lectio Divina prior to joining us on January 23rd. A guide to this method of prayer can be found below:

Church teaching on the Sacredness of Human Life & Dignity

"Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being" (CCC, no.2558).

We share the following resources for personal formation, and so that you feel more equipped to share the Gospel of Life with others:
