Since 1973, the Catholic Church in the United States has observed October as Respect Life Month. In this 50th anniversary year, we pleased to share the 2023 Respect Life Month Statement entitled “Living Radical Solidarity.”
Bishop Burbidge’s statement hopes to remind Catholics of our continued need to defend human life, while also challenging each of us to practice radical solidarity and unconditional love for pregnant and parenting mothers. His hope is that this statement will also serve as a helpful resource at the parish level as priests and deacons prepare to preach about life issues in a way that speaks the fullness of the truth regarding the sanctity of human life.
It might also assist you in planning for October's Respect Life Month for your own parish or school community.
Heartfelt thanks for all for all that you do to call attention to Respect Life Month, as well as for your countless efforts to witness to the Gospel of Life.
The Office for Human Life, in collaboration with the Diocesan Social Action Office, is highlighting different aspects of life each week throughout the month of October in order to help build and celebrate the culture of life.
