Case specialists are priests, deacons, or lay ecclesial ministers who have additional training to assist petitioners and respondents involved in petitions of marriage nullity.

The tribunal holds training sessions on an annual basis. Participants must have taken or audited a course on canon law, typically as part of their formation program but also accessible to everyone through St. Mary Seminary.
The 2025 Case Specialist Training is tentative rescheduled to September/October. The course runs for six weeks, with a three hour sessions that are offered both Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon.
