OCIA Formation Sessions

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), approved by the USCCB and confirmed by the Apostolic See in 2024, is an updated translation of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). The OCIA texts may be used in liturgy beginning the First Sunday of Advent, December 1, 2024, and mandatory use of this translation is Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

In order to help those involved in the OCIA process with implementation at the parish level, the Diocese of Cleveland is offering formation workshops. These workshops, a series presented by Bishop Michael Woost, Mary Hrich, Christy Cabaniss, and Michelle Nowak, will be offered in three locations and are intended for clergy, OCIA teams, liturgists, catechetical leaders, and music directors.

The first workshop of the series will examine what has changed with the OCIA translation. The second workshop will explore vision of OCIA as a journey of accompaniment. The third workshop will take a closer look at the rites and rituals of OCIA. There is no charge to attend, but advanced registration is requested.  Content of each session will be the same at all locations.  You are not required to attend all three sessions at the same location.  

All sessions are from 7pm until 9pm.
