Jubilee Year of Hope - Procession and Opening Mass

Join Bishop Malesic as he celebrates Mass to begin the Jubilee Year of Hope in the Diocese of Cleveland.

Prior to the Mass in the cathedral, a procession will take place beginning at St. Peter Church (East 17th Street and Superior Ave). Introductory prayers and the procession will begin at 4:30 p.m. The procession will arrive at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist prior to the 5:30 p.m. Mass. Mass will be livestreamed below.

Those attending the prayers and procession at St. Peter Church are encouraged to park near the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and make their way to St. Peter Church for the 4:30 p.m. procession. The surface lot behind the cathedral (accessible off of Rockwell Ave) will be reserved for Procession/Mass attendees (if coming from the same parish, carpooling is encouraged). All other parking lots/garages will be subject to the rate of the day. Please note that the Browns game has been flexed to 4 p.m. on Dec. 29.

The Jubilee Year of Hope is a special year of grace celebrated in the Universal Church every 25 years. Pope Francis will open Holy Doors at four the Papal Basilicas in Rome to mark the occasion. Bishop Malesic has designated eight parishes – one in each county of the diocese – and three shrines as "Sacred Sites" during the upcoming year for the faithful to visit, pray and receive the special graces associated with the Jubilee Year of Hope. More details are available at here.
