Marriage and Family - Awareness & Advocacy: An Educational Session on Intimate Partner Violence
Thursday, October 23 from 7:00pm - 9:30pm
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and it is our duty as Catholics to show support, be informed and take action to educate ourselves about this issue. "When I call for Help: A Pastoral Response to Domestic Violence Against Women was written many years ago; but the plague of abuse is still rampant. This awareness session is designed to shed light on the realities of coercive control and domestic violence that occurs in our parishes and communities. Educational statistics, tips and tools will be shared. There will also be resources available for individuals, parish staff and clergy. This free session has been developed with the support of a victim advocate and a coach that works with abusers to help support increased understanding of how to respond in these difficult situations.
