Juneteenth Celebration
Friday, June 19 from 10:00am - 4:00pm
The federal holiday of Juneteenth is a significant observance for the Black Catholic community of the Diocese of Cleveland. We now embark on the fourth consecutive collaborative celebration with the offices of Black and Hispanic Ministries, the four Black Catholic Parishes, St. Dominic Parish and Catholic Charities. The event honors resilience, perseverance, and endurance demonstrated throughout the history of slavery. Ongoing initiatives continue to promote inclusion within the Catholic Church. The day commences with a Eucharistic celebration followed by an outdoor/indoor family picnic with food and activities for all. The Eucharist celebration prioritizes God’s saving presence and our shared commitment to loving service and companionship through Jesus Christ. All are welcome to join in the celebration throughout the day as we reflect on its significance and purpose together.
