Position Summary

Walsh Jesuit High School is seeking a Campus Minister for the Office of Mission and Identity to vision, develop, plan, and coordinate the school's service and justice formation opportunities for students.

The Campus Minister will develop and oversee Walsh Jesuit's comprehensive Christian service and justice programs, experiences, retreats, and immersion trips through a lens of Ignatian spirituality rooted in the school's Jesuit and Catholic identity.

Reporting directly to the Director of Student Formation and Belonging, this position serves on a team of 3–4 ministers to coordinate and lead service and justice initiatives while also supporting other aspects of student formation and belonging, including retreats, belonging initiatives, prayer groups, sacraments, and other programs sponsored by the Office of Mission and Identity.

This is a 10+ month position. The work schedule generally follows the school's academic calendar, with approximately 15 additional workdays during the summer.

Summer responsibilities may include:

  • Facilitating and serving as a chaperone on a student immersion trip.

  • Coordinating the school's weekly ministry to people experiencing homelessness through Labre.

  • Co-facilitating retreat leader formation.

  • Co-facilitating the retreat for new students 1–2 weeks before the start of the school year.

Major Responsibilities

Christian Service Coordination

  • Develop and coordinate Christian service experiences for students.

  • Manage the required service-hours tracking platform.

  • Recruit and support adult chaperones and student leaders who assist with service ministries, such as Labre and Sophomore Service.

Social Justice Experiences

  • Coordinate and oversee student and chaperone experiences of solidarity and social justice rooted in Ignatian and Christian values.

  • Support opportunities such as:

    • Ignatian Family Teach-In.

    • Arrupe Leadership Summit.

    • Other social justice and solidarity experiences.

Immersion Trip Experiences

  • Develop and coordinate all student immersion trips.

  • Provide student and chaperone formation before, during, and after immersion experiences.

  • Foster and maintain relationships with partner institutions.

Service and Justice Coordination

  • Coordinate student groups and clubs that focus on social ministries and advocacy through a weekly Christian service meeting and regular dialogue with moderators.

  • Support groups and initiatives such as:

    • Jesuit Refugee Service.

    • Green Team.

    • Fair Trade.

    • Catholic Schools for Peace and Justice.

    • Other related ministries and advocacy organizations.

In-School Service and Justice Initiatives

  • Identify, develop, and offer all-school initiatives and daily activity (Magis) period opportunities that promote awareness of monthly mission themes.

  • Coordinate initiatives such as:

    • Prayer services.

    • Masses.

    • Mission collections.

    • Other school-wide service and justice opportunities.

Student Formation and Belonging

  • Serve as a key collaborator with other members of the Mission Office.

  • Support:

    • Retreats.

    • Belonging initiatives.

    • Prayer groups.

    • Sacraments.

    • Other thematic experiences directed by the Mission Leadership Team.

Core Qualifications

  • Master's degree in theology, pastoral ministry, religious education, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of professional ministry and/or administrative leadership experience.

  • Strong pastoral presence and ability to connect well with adolescents.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaborative leadership skills.

  • Adaptable team player who is willing and able to manage and support multiple projects across various areas of the Mission Office.

  • Commitment to Jesuit values, faith-based student formation, and the inclusive building of community.
