Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School (VASJ) is a Diocesan–owned, comprehensive, co–educational, Catholic high school committed to academic excellence and the development of students’ faith and gifts. Enrollment is 450 students in grades 9 through 12.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cleveland was founded on April 23, 1847. Under the leadership of the Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, Bishop of Cleveland, it is the 23rd largest diocese in the United States and encompasses the counties of Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Wayne, and Ashland. Description:

The Dean of Student Life has the overall responsibility to the administrative team to provide administrative, behavioral, and student activities, and to foster a positive school culture. This position will provide support in scheduling of student activities and daily attendance and behavior. The Dean of Student Life with collaborate with the administrative team, student council, attendance office, and counseling department as described below,

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Principal in overseeing the discipline matters of the school.
  • Coordination of:
    • Behavior probation review
    • School pictures
    • School dances
  • Supervision of safety drills – fire, tornado, evacuation, lockdown, rapid dismissal
    • Submit reports to the State of Ohio regarding drill
    • Coordinate with maintenance and administrative team to conduct drills
  • Preparation of behavior probation lists and letters.
  • Membership on:
    • Administrative Team
    • Intervention Assistance Team
    • School Crisis Team
  • Provide teachers with intervention assistance and support in matters of classroom disruption
  • Be a visible presence in the halls before and after school and during lunch periods.
  • Serve as the administrative presence in student conferences dealing with behavior or attendance.
  • Assist with supervision at after-school events.
  • Maintain student locker assignments
  • Meet with attendance coordinator and counseling department regarding tardies, absences, attendance letters, and chronic absenteeism
  • Meet with parents and students regarding attendance and/or behavior issues
    • Implement discipline or attendance contracts
    • Collaborate with administrative team regarding suspensions or expulsions
  • Maintain data base of student behavior and generate quarterly reports
  • Responsible for yearly updates for the Student Handbook.
  • Performance of other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Job requirements:

  • Appropriate license or approved non-tax license
  • Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred
  • Able to pass FBI/BCI background check
  • Uphold the values of the Catholic faith
  • VIRTUS certified or willing to be certified
  • Experience working with urban high school students
