Core Responsibilities of the Full-Time Custodian
The Full-Time Custodian takes pride in creating clean, safe, and welcoming spaces where parishioners, students, staff, and visitors can worship, learn, and grow in faith. The Custodian is responsible for the cleaning, maintenance, and care of the parish's buildings and grounds. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this position plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, attractive, and functional environment throughout our church, school, and campus. This includes, but is not limited to the following duties:

• Perform assigned custodial duties throughout the church, school, and all parish facilities.
• Assist the Director of Facilities with general maintenance and repair projects.
• Assist with room setup and teardown for parish events, meetings, and special functions.
• Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, entrances, and other designated areas as needed.
• Move furniture, equipment, tables, and chairs for parish activities.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility needs.
• Complete light maintenance and repairs involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and painting as needed.
• Maintain the appearance of parish grounds through landscaping assistance, litter removal, and seasonal maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Director of Facilities.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular, rigorous physical activity and the capability to:

• Lift & Carry: Safely lift and move up to 80 pounds occasionally; climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds.
• Mobility: Bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs, and comfortably navigate confined mechanical spaces.
• Environment: Work indoors and outdoors across all seasonal weather conditions to manage grounds and clear snow.
• Logistics: Move furniture, tables, chairs, and equipment to dynamically support the setup and teardown of parish events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to three years of custodial, janitorial, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred.
• Flexible availability for on-call weekends.
• Must pass background check and participate in Diocesan Virtus program

Compensation commensurate with experience: $19-$22/ hour
