Saint Martin de Porres High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Dan Gunther as Vice President of Advancement. Mr. Richard F. Clark, President of Saint Martin said ?Dan is a welcome addition to our school, with vast experience in education, a proven track record in fund raising and an understanding of our mission and its culture makes him a perfect choice?. ?Dan?s experience combined with his compassion and connection to Catholic education will enable him to serve our community well?.
Dan brings with him a Bachelors in English from Fordham University, and a Masters in English from the University of Maryland, College Park. Dan and his wife Michele reside in Akron with their three children, ages, 12, 10 and 7.
Founded in 2004, Saint Martin de Porres High School has an enrollment of 400 students in grades 9 through 12. Over 90 companies provide entry level, clerical jobs in which students work one day per week to help cover 70% of the cost of their education.
Saint Martin de Porres High School is part of the national Cristo Rey Network of schools, and is dedicated to transforming urban Cleveland one student at a time through an innovative college preparatory curriculum rooted in the development of habits of mind and spirit, a unique partnership with the business community reflected in a Corporate Work Study Program and a caring, Catholic community. The network now has 19 schools in various urban areas throughout the country and hopes to reach 12,000 students by the year 2012.
