News of the Diocese

September 20, 2010

The inspiring and historic story of ?The Cathedral of St. John The Evangelist---Everybody?s Church? will air Monday evening, February 16 at 9:00 p.m. on WVIZ/Ideastream PBS for Northeast Ohio.

Produced by Cleveland Television Journalist and Cathedral member, Paul Orlousky, this program is recognition of the 160th anniversary of the Roman Catholic Cathedral and 60th anniversary of its rededication following the 1948 expansion and renovation.  The special one hour broadcast on Channel 25 explores the history of this great edifice at East 9th and Superior Avenue where the viewer will learn that the Cathedral not only serves as a spiritual haven in the heart of the city, but is a mirror on the city and its development; and a place which reflects the very fabric of the town, its people and their values.

Bishop Richard Lennon of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland says, ?The Cathedral of St. John is the Mother Church and seat of the presiding Bishop of the Diocese and serves as the centerpiece of worship.  Over the decades the Cathedral has hosted the major celebrations of faith and life.?

This video documentary captures and recounts the historic events, as well as, the life of the Cathedral today which is a vibrant and enthusiastic institution, community, and ministry at the heart of Northeast Ohio?s religious, civic, financial and social crossroads.  Through rare film and video footage, photographs and interviews; the viewer will come to know the spiritual as well as, social and commercial development of our great city.
