The Reverend Simon J. Nekic, Pastor Emeritus, St. Vitus Parish, Lorain died 9 December 2011 after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments.
Simon J. Nekic was born on 26 September 1918 to the late Stephen and Barbara (nee Cajko) Nekic. He was educated at St. Paul Croatian Elementary School, Cathedral Latin School, John Carroll University and St. Mary Seminary. On 18 December 1943, in the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, Bishop Edward F. Hoban ordained him to the priesthood for the service of the Diocese of Cleveland.
