New Catholic elementary school to serve students in Southeast suburbs

News of the Diocese

April 26, 2012

Parents and students from Garfield Heights, Maple Heights and surrounding communities are invited to find out more about the new St. Benedict Catholic School which begins operation this coming Fall.

The result of a merger of St. Monica (Garfield Heights) and St. Martin of Tours (Maple Heights) parish schools, the new Interparochial Catholic school is positioned to offer these important qualities: Academic Excellence; Affordability; Catholic Identity; Diversity-Tolerance-Understanding; LD/Special Ed Services.

As a result of the merger, grades K though 8 will be housed at the former St. Monica School located at 13623 Rockside Road in Garfield Heights.  The new St. Benedict's will use the former the St. Martin of Tours campus at 14600 Turney Road in Maple Heights as an Early Learning Center with the expectation to serve the demand for early childhood education.

An Open House will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and all are invited to attend.

Present to answer questions and serve as hosts will be the new principal, Mrs Lisa Oriti, a veteran of 18 years in Catholic education and Mr. Scott Gongos, St. Benedict's new executive vice president who worked for the past ten years as Director of Admissions at St. Peter Chanel High School.

Families who are new to St. Benedict School in the fall of 2012 will be able to Lock-in their tuition rate for the entire time they remain at St. Benedict.  Scholarships will also be available.
