Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship . . .

News of the Diocese

July 18, 2012

The Diocesan Social Action Office through the five Catholic Commissions have scheduled the following forums on Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, Living Our Faith, Loving Our Neighbor in an Election Year (and Beyond) in cooperation with the Diocesan Legal Office and the Theology Department of Saint Mary Seminary.

Bishop Lennon has urged us to present the document as a guide for Catholics in the exercise of their rights and duties as participants in our democracy.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops urged us to use this important statement to help form our consciences and to shape our choices in the coming election in the light of Catholic teaching.  Each scheduled forum will have a presenter from the Diocesan Social Action Office, the Legal Office and a theology faculty member of Saint Mary Seminary.

All forums will include Conscience Formation and the issue of Religious Liberty.

Please feel free to publicize the forums in your and neighboring areas as these will be the presentations for the fall election season.

For more information, contact Sister Kathleen Ryan, SND at skryan@clevelandcatholiccharities.org or (216) 939-3843.
