As we begin the school year, 2012-2013, we welcome all of the students in our schools as well as all Catholic students who are beginning the school year, and who will be attending PSR classes.
(Margaret Lyons, Secretary for Cathechetical Formation and Education/Superintendent)
As you begin, we encourage you to enter into your studies with your whole heart and soul. Be the best student you can be. Your teachers have been working very hard to prepare your classrooms and their lessons. We all want you to succeed, but you have to help us by coming to school ready to learn and studying each day. We encourage you to read and explore new worlds through your lessons.
Most of all, take advantage of your presence in a Catholic environment. This year, the Holy Father asks all of us to celebrate our Faith. Be proud that you are a Catholic. Learn all you can to get to know Jesus in a personal way. Learn to recognize Him in each person you meet each day. Look for the good in others, and always treat everyone as you want to be treated.
In the Diocese of Cleveland, we hope that when you graduate, you will have developed the qualities we have summarized into a Profile of the Catholic School Graduate:
A faith-filled disciple of Christ
A Christian leader who is a
Steward of the environment
Active and productive citizen
A centered, well-rounded person
A loving person
A lifelong learner
and
A healthy person
Your parents and those who believe in Catholic education are pulling for you. They sacrifice to send you to a Catholic school or Parish School of Religion so that you can learn to know and love God through faith and the service of others. We offer you our best wishes for a very good year filled with academic success and happy relationships respectful of life, that help you grow in faith, hope and love.
