Flanked by participants representing many of the religious denominations in Greater Cleveland, Bishop Richard Lennon participated in an interfaith Thanksgiving prayer service at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Cleveland.
Rabbi Stephen Weiss of B'Nai Jeshurum Congregation preached about the ultimate meaning of Thanksgiving---"We must share the love." The Rabbi noted that we often strive for the wrong things such as material goods and status. He said that what we should strive for is love and a connection to God. He added, that when we can feel the pain of others, that is love, especially needed at Thanksgiving time when 46.2 million Americans will go hungry on the holiday.
Bishop Lennon concluded the service with a blessing.
Clergy were represented from others faiths including the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, Presbyterian Church, the Cleveland Baptist Association, the United Church of Christ and the First Mosque of Cleveland.
