Catholic High School students to learn about social justice

Saint Ignatius High School will host a gathering of students from each of the Catholic High Schools within the Diocese of Cleveland on Friday, March 8, 2013 to learn about issues of social justice in Northeast Ohio.


The day long social justice summit is being referred to as "Breaking Barriers: Making the Invisible...Visible" and is sponsored by Catholic Schools for Peace and Justice (CSPJ).  All Catholic High School students are invited to attend.

Students will begin arriving at Saint Ignatius High School, 1911 W. 30th Street, Cleveland at 8:30 a.m.  Most Reverend Richard Lennon, Bishop of Cleveland will celebrate Mass at St. Mary's Chapel on the campus of Saint Ignatius High School at 9:00 a.m.  The social justice summit will then begin in The Breen Center for the Performing Arts at 10:00 a.m.  Sr. Helen Prejean, CSJ will deliver her keynote address at 10:30 a.m.  Lunch and talks with local advocates and experts regarding Homelessness, Refugee Populations, People with Disabilities, Human Traffricking and Violence will begin at 11:30 a.m.  School Reflection opportunites will take place in various locations on the Saint Ignatius campus beginning at 2:30 p.m.  Closing remarks and invitations to action will begin at 3:10 p.m.  It is expected that students will arrive back at their respective High School campuses by 4:00 p.m.
