The final rounds of the sixth annual WCLV JUBILATION Elizabeth Stuart Church Choir Festival, cosponsored by the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, will be featuring six Church Choirs from Northeast Ohio.
The three evening performances on Thursday, May 9, 2013 beginning at 8:00 p.m. will be Gesu Parish Choir (University Heights) directed by Joseph Metzinger; St. Casimir Parish Choir (Cleveland) directed by Rita Cyvas-Kliorys; and St. Sebastian Parish Choir (Akron) directed by Lynn Frey-Steward.
The three evening performances on Friday, May 10, 2013 beginning at 8:00 p.m. will be Suffield United Church of Christ (Mogadore) directed by David Baughman; St. Hilary Parish Choir (Fairlawn) directed by Carissa Young; and Ensemble of Federated Church, UCC (Chagrin Falls) directed by Amanda Powell.
The Festival competition is open to all church choirs in Northeast Ohio and offers a grand prize of $1,000 to the winning choir.
The six choirs will each present a twenty minute program adjudicated by a panel of distinguished judges: Robert Page, former Director of Choruses, the Cleveland Orchestra; Frank Bianchi, Director, Baldwin Wallace Men's Chorus; Peter Jarjisian, Professor Emeritus of Choral Conducting, Ohio University. The Festival will be broadcast live over WCLV FM 104.9 from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist at E. 9th & Superior Avenue in downtown Cleveland on May 9 and May 10. All are welcome to attend. Free and secure parking will be available in the Cathedral Garage on Rockwell & E. 9th Street.
