The Reverend Ralph A. Bodziony, Pastor Emeritus, Saint John Cantius Parish, Cleveland died Wednesday, 21 August 2013, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments.

 

Ralph A. Bodziony was born on 10 November 1929. His parents were the late Jacob and Sophia (Setlak). He was educated at St. Hyacinth School, Benedictine High School, John Carroll University, Saint Gregory Seminary, Cincinnati, Mount Saint Mary Seminary, Norwood and Saint Mary Seminary, Cleveland. On 24 May 1958 in the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist, Archbishop Edward F. Hoban ordained him to the priesthood for the service of the Diocese of Cleveland.

 

Father Bodziony's first assignment was as Parochial Vicar at Saint Mary of Czestochowa, Cleveland. On 13 June 1963 he was transferred to Saint Adalbert, Berea to serve as Parochial Vicar. He also served as Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Berea Council #2668. Father Bodziony was transferred on 30 September 1969 to Saint John Cantius, Cleveland to serve as Parochial Vicar. He was appointed Pastor of Saint John Cantius, Cleveland on 2 January 1973. He was appointed Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council #4217 effective 10 July 1992. On 1 February 2000 Father Bodziony was appointed Administrator of Assumption, Grafton. On 1 July 2003 Father Bodziony was appointed Parochial Vicar of Assumption, Grafton and Parochial Vicar of Immaculate Conception, Grafton where he remained until his retirement on 31 August 2003.

 

The wake will begin with Vespers celebrated by Bishop Roger Gries on Tuesday, 27 August in Saint John Cantius Church, 906 College Avenue, SW, Cleveland at 3 :00 p.m. and will continue until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 28 August in Saint John Cantius Church at 10:00 a.m. Bishop Richard Lennon will be the main celebrant and Father Gary Chmura will be the homilist. Interment is at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland.

 

In accord with the provisions of the Marian Pact, please try to attend and concelebrate the Funeral Liturgy, offer Mass for him as you are able and cause him to be remembered and prayed for in the appropriate public prayers of the Church. May Father Bodziony and all our priests, deacons and bishops who have died, live forever in the joy of the Resurrection.
