The Reverend Thomas W Sheehan, Senior Priest-Retired, died Thursday, 14 November 2013, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments.


Thomas W. Sheehan was born on 16 December 1942. His parents were the late Lester W. and Louise C. (Schreiner). He was educated at Burher Elementary, Cleveland, St. Michael Grade School and High School, Cleveland, Borromeo Seminary College, Wickliffe, St. Mary Seminary, Cleveland. On 30 May 1970 in Holy Family Church, Parma, Bishop William M. Cosgrove ordained him to the priesthood for the service of the Diocese of Cleveland.



Fr. Sheehan's first assignment was as Parochial Vicar of St. Michael the Archangel, Cleveland. On 19 August 1975 he was transferred to serve as Parochial Vicar of St. Mary, Elyria. Fr. Sheehan was appointed Parochial Vicar of St. John Nepomucene on 1 October 1977. On 30 June 1983 he was appointed Parochial Vicar of Holy Family, Parma. He transferred on 14 June 1989 and was appointed Parochial Vicar of St. John Vianney, Mentor. On 31 July 1990 Fr. Sheehan was appointed Pastor of St. Benedict, Cleveland. He was appointed Parochial Vicar of Holy Family, Parma on 1 October 1993. Fr. Sheehan retired on 8 November 1998.


Vespers will be celebrated on Monday, 18 November in Holy Family Church, 7367 York Road, Parma at 3:00 p.m. The wake will continue until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, 19 November in Holy Family Church at 11 :00 a.m. Bishop Richard Lennon will be the main celebrant and Fr. Walter Jenne will be the homilist. Interment is at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.


In accord with the provisions of the Marian Pact, please try to attend and concelebrate the Funeral Liturgy, offer Mass for him as you are able and cause him to be remembered and prayed for in the appropriate public prayers of the Church. May Fr. Sheehan and all our priests, deacons and bishops who have died, live forever in the joy of the Resurrection.
