Parishes remember the Children of the Incarcerated
Expressing the theme, ?Do not be Afraid,? Bishop Richard Lennon celebrated a Christmas season Mass for the prisoners inside the Cuyahoga County Justice Center on Wednesday, December 18th. More than 50 male and female prisoners participated in the Mass. They heard the Bishop?s message that much like, Joseph, Mary, and the Apostles; they should not be afraid because ?God is with us?and God shares his love with us but we must ask him for it.?
During this Christmas season, several parishes and Catholic organizations have committed to the purchase and distribution of Christmas gifts to the children of those who are behind bars. Those children are often neglected at this time of year. The donors will be delivering the items to the children before the 25th.
100 Children of prisoners to receive Christmas gifts
Five parishes of the Diocese will be delivering Christmas gifts to 100 children whose parents are currently incarcerated in the Cuyahoga County jail. After asking for gift suggestions for the children, the parishes of St. Agnes-Our Lady of Fatima, St. Adelbert, and Our Lady of Peace in Cleveland; Gesu in University Heights; and St. Ladislaus in Westlake are purchasing and dropping off the gifts.
