More than $27,000 in Tuition assistance
The Catholic Education Endowment Trust which raises tuition assistance funds for worthy Catholic School students in the Diocese of Cleveland awarded 22 students today, six from local high schools and 16 from local grade schools, at the annual Bishops? scholarship for Excellence celebration.
Each of the high school students received $2500 scholarships so as to continue their education at Cleveland Central Catholic, Magnificat, Trinity, and Holy Name schools. The 22 grade schoolers each received $800 scholarships for the 2015-2016 school year with a large portion of the diocese represented. The scholarship awardees attend Incarnate Word Academy, Seton Catholic School, St. Peter-Lorain, Sacred Heart of Jesus Academy, St. Charles Borromeo, St. Paschal Baylon, Academy of St. Bartholomew, St. Mary in Chardon, John Paul II Academy, St. Ambrose, and St. Joseph-Amherst.
Speaking to the recipients, their parents and school officials, Cleveland Bishop Richard Lennon expressed his gratitude for the students efforts and for his own gift of Catholic Education.
Each student participated in an essay contest with this year?s theme, ?Forgiveness.?
The Bishops? Scholarships for Excellence are granted each year. The funds are awarded by the Catholic Education Endowment Trust which raises scholarship money through various efforts and from generous donors and activities like the forthcoming ?Alleluia Ball.?
