Mother Angelica, founder of EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network), will be remembered in two memorial Masses, one in her hometown of Canton and one at the monastery where she began her vocation as a Poor Clare of Perpetual Adoration in Cleveland.
Mother Angelica, as she was known to millions of viewers across the world, passed away from natural causes at the age of 92 on Easter Sunday, March 27.
Born in Canton in 1923, she will be remembered at a special memorial Mass at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20 at St. Peter?s Catholic Church, 720 Cleveland Ave. NW in Canton.
At the age of 21, she entered the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration monastery in Cleveland. A special memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul?s Shrine, home of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27. The shrine is located at 4108 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.
Baptized Rita Rizzo, she took the name Mother Mary Angelica of the Annunciation when she entered the monastery. Later, she was later known to the millions she reached via radio and television as Mother Angelica.
