The Reverend Edward F. Lajack, Senior Priest-Retired, died Monday, 25 July 2016, after having received the prayerful support and consolation of the Sacraments.
Edward Francis Lajack was born on 29 January 1942. His parents were the late Stephen A. and Mary (Lestinsky). His brother is Fr. Jerome M. Lajack, Senior Priest-Retired. He was educated at SS. Cyril & Methodius Elementary School, Lakewood, Borromeo High School, Wickliffe, Borromeo Seminary, Wickliffe and St. Mary Seminary, Cleveland. On 25 May 1968 in Saint John Bosco Church, Parma Bishop Clarence G. Issenmann ordained him to the priesthood for the service of the Diocese of Cleveland.
Fr. Lajack?s first assignment was as Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cleveland. On 25 September 1968 he was transferred to St. John the Baptist, Akron to serve as Parochial Vicar. Fr. Lajack was assigned Parochial Vicar of St Patrick (Rocky River Drive), Cleveland on 5 July 1973. On 29 June 1978 he was assigned Parochial Vicar of St. Mark, Cleveland. On 17 January 1979 Fr. Lajack was named Pastor of SS. Cyril and Methodius, Barberton. In addition to this assignment he served as Chaplain for the Knights of Columbus Barberton Council #1617 effective 11 December 1984. He concluded his assignment on 8 June 2009 and was granted a medical leave of absence to attend to his personal health. Fr. Lajack retired on 29 January 2012.
The wake will begin with Vespers on Thursday, 28 July in St. Colette Church, 330 West 130 Street, Brunswick, OH 44212 at 3:00 p.m. Fr. Donald Oleksiak will be the presider and Fr. Robert Stec will be the homilist. The wake will continue until 8:00 p.m.
