Father Daniel Fickes, pastor, St. Theresa Parish, Garfield Heights, submitted his resignation from the office of pastor, and Bishop Richard Lennon accepted it, effective Oct. 1. He will receive a new assignment in the near future.

Father Paul C. O?Connor, SJ, with the permission of the Rev. Walter C. Deye, SJ, acting provincial of the Chicago-Detroit Province of the Society of Jesus, was appointed to the faculty at Walsh Jesuit High School, Cuyahoga Falls, effective Aug. 1.

Father Franz C. Dool was granted a year extension to his leave of absence for personal reasons effective Aug. 1.

Father David J. Halaiko, pastor, Nativity of the Lord Jesus Parish, Akron, received permission to retire effective Jan. 1, 2017.

Father Ronald J. Bryda, pastor, Our Lady Help of Christians, Litchfield, received permission to retire effective Aug. 1, 2017.

Father Douglas T. Brown, pastor, Mary Queen of Peace Parish, Cleveland, was reappointed pastor, Mary Queen of Peace Parish, effective April 25.

Father John J. Schneider, administrator, SS. Peter and Paul Parish, Garfield Heights, was appointed pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Parish, Garfield Heights and pastor of St. Therese Parish, Garfield Heights, effective Oct. 1.

Father Donald Ewulu, a student priest from the Diocese of Orlu, Tanzania, was granted permission to reside at the rectory of St. Monica Parish in Garfield Heights while he pursues graduate studies at John Carroll University effective Aug. 1.

Deacon David A. Mayer, with the permission of the Most Rev. Charles C. Thompson, bishop of Evansville, was appointed permanent deacon, St. Augustine Parish, Cleveland, effective Aug. 1. This appointment is in addition to his appointment as deacon at the Grafton Correctional Institution, Grafton.

The diaconal assignment of Deacon Robert J. Piskach, St. Francis de Sales Parish, Parma, concluded and he was granted retirement status effective Aug. 15.
