The Hispanic Ministry of the Diocese of Cleveland will present its annual Faith and Culture celebration 7-10 p.m. on Sept. 16 at the Center for Pastoral Leadership, 28700 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe.
The theme will be ?Encounter with Jesus in the Year of Mercy.? Bishop Roger Gries will be the main celebrant for Mass and Father Joseph Callahan, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Cleveland, will be guest homilist. After Mass, there will be a reception with Latin American food and folkloric dances.
The celebration occurs annually during the Month of Hispanic Heritage, which is being observed from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 this year. It recognizes the contributions made and the important presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States, including their strong commitment to faith, family, hard work and service. Nationalities included are Puerto Rican, South or Central Americans and others of Spanish culture.
In the Diocese of Cleveland, the event is coordinated by the Office of Hispanic Ministry. It celebrates the history, richness of faith and culture of those who left their homelands and began new lives in a new country. The event has been celebrated for 18 years.
