Bishop Daniel Thomas, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Cleveland, will ordain eight men to the priesthood during a Mass at 7 p.m. May 19 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in downtown Cleveland. This is the largest ordination class in the diocese in 14 years.
Seven of the new priests are from the diocese. The eighth is from the Archdiocese of Daegu, South Korea, which has had a long relationship with Saint Mary Seminary here. All the new priests are being assigned to parishes in the Diocese of Cleveland.
Those being ordained and their first parish assignments are:
Deacon Jacob Bearer -- He is 29 and was a member of St. Mary Parish in Painesville.
