The feast of the Ascension will be celebrated in churches throughout the Diocese of Cleveland on Sunday, May 28.
The holy day occurs during the Easter season, which ends on Pentecost. Forty days after Jesus rose from the dead, ?He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father,? according to the Nicene Creed.
In some dioceses, Ascension is a holy day of obligation and will be observed on Thursday, May 25. Many dioceses, including the Diocese of Cleveland, transferred observance of the feast to the following Sunday.
