Father Carl L. D?Agostino
Bishop emeritus Anthony Pilla will be the celebrant at the 11 a.m. funeral Mass on June 5 for Father Carl L. D?Agostino at St. Michael Church, Independence. Homilist will be Father Peter Colletti.
Father D?Agostino, 84, died on May 30. He was pastor emeritus of St. Michael Parish, Independence, serving there from Sept. 27, 1993, until his retirement on June 30, 2005.
The son of the late Daniel and Eugenie (Laurenti) D?Agostino, he was educated at St. Ann School in Cleveland Heights and St. Ignatius High School. He attended St. Gregory Minor Seminary in Cincinnati, Borromeo Seminary College in Wickliffe and Saint Mary Seminary, Cleveland, before being ordained to the priesthood for service in the Diocese of Cleveland by Bishop Floyd Begin on May 23, 1959 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
Father D?Agostino served as parochial vicar at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, Parma and Holy Redeemer Parish, Cleveland. On July 1, 1968, he received permission to transfer from the Army Reserves to the regular Army. After being discharged, he was named pastor of St. Jude Parish, Elyria, on Dec. 15, 1991. He also served previously as chaplain for the Knights of Columbus Northeast Ohio Council 2786.
Father Donald Oleksiak will preside at vespers at 3 p.m. on June 4, with Father Francis Walsh as homilist.
Interment will be at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
