News of the Diocese

September 21, 2017

The nonprofit, faith-based Village of St. Edward broke ground on Sept. 20 for a new 106-unit senior living community at 880 Main St., Wadsworth.

The Village of St. Edward at Wadsworth will offer independent living, assisted living and memory care living arrangements and services. A continuum of care will be offered for the changing needs of residents. The new facility is scheduled to open in the fall of 2018.

According to officials from The Village, residents and their families will never be asked to relocate should their health or finances change. They said this is in keeping with The Village?s mission of lifelong care.

John Stoner, president and CEO of The Village of St. Edward, made some brief remarks at a reception following the groundbreaking. He said the design and functionality of the units would be representative of middle America, adding that The Village gets its strength from the support of the people and that ?it exists for the people.?

The new facility will have 50 independent living units, 28 assisted living units and 28 memory care units.

The Village of St. Edward, which has operated in Fairlawn since 1964, is a continuing care retirement community that provides services and residency for senior citizens. Initially founded by the Diocese of Cleveland and the Sisters of St. Dominic of Akron, The Village is dedicated to meeting patients? and residents? spiritual, physical and psychosocial needs in a faith-based environment.
