At least eight people were killed and 11 seriously injured the afternoon of Oct. 31 when a man driving a pickup truck plowed into pedestrians and cyclists on a bike path near the World Trade Center memorial in New York City.

Cleveland Bishop Nelson Perez, who spent five years as an auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Center, New York prior to his appointment here, asked for prayers for the victims, their families, first-responders and all New York City residents.
