Bishop Martin Amos, bishop emeritus of Davenport, celebrated the funeral Mass on May 18 at St. Eugene Church, Cuyahoga Falls, for Father Neil A. Crosby Jr. Father Daniel Schlegel was the homilist.
Father Crosby, 67, died on May 16.
He was born on Aug. 29, 1950 to the late Neil and Shirley (Neeson) Crosby.
Father Crosby was educated at Cleveland State University, Borromeo College, Wickliffe, and Saint Mary Seminary, Cleveland. He was ordained to the priesthood for service to the Diocese of Cleveland by Bishop Anthony Pilla on June 13, 1981.
His first assignment was as parochial vicar of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Tallmadge. On June 24, 1986 he was assigned as parochial vicar of St. Joan of Arc Parish, Chagrin Falls. He was named parochial vicar of St. Leo the Great Parish in Cleveland on July 15, 1987 and on June 23, 1993, he was assigned as parochial vicar of Sacred Heart Parish, Wadsworth. In addition, he was named chaplain, Knights of Columbus Council 3213 on July 23, 1993. He was assigned parochial vicar of Holy Family Parish in Stow on Sept. 1, 1999, and on Sept. 14, 2001, he was named pastor of St. Eugene Parish in Cuyahoga Falls, where he served until his death.
At his request, there was no vesper service or wake.
Interment will be at the National Cemetery in Rittman at a later date.
