The Most Reverend Nelson J. Perez, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland, is taking steps to revitalize Catholic campus ministry throughout the eight-county diocese. This renewal is being accomplished by the appointment of new leadership, the adding of management positions and resources as well as improving the organizational structure. These moves are to ensure that the mission of Newman Campus Catholic Ministry of helping students enter more deeply into a relationship with Christ is accomplished.
Bishop Perez has appointed the Reverend Vincent J. Hawk. M.Div., as the Diocesan Director of Newman Campus Catholic Ministry in the diocese, effective, July 1, 2018. Father Hawk will oversee the pastoral administration and organizational operation of Newman Campus Catholic Ministry across the diocese. He will also continue in his role as pastor of St. Peter Parish in Loudonville, Ohio, and as chaplain at Ashland University Newman Campus Catholic Ministry.
?I am humbled by my selection to lead this most important outreach ministry to young adults on our local college campuses,? said Father Hawk. ?Many students bring with them such a positive faith experience as they seek to further deepen their encounter with the Lord through campus ministry. I look forward to engaging with them as co-workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, helping to bring them and others closer to Christ.?
Newman Campus Catholic Ministry, as a ministry of the Diocese of Cleveland, is currently in place at seven college campuses in the Diocese of Cleveland: The University of Akron, the College of Wooster, Baldwin-Wallace University, Case Western Reserve University, Oberlin College, Ashland University and Cleveland State University.
