The month of August is a busy time in the calendar year for any family preparing their children for the start of the new school year. For Catholic schools in the Diocese of Cleveland, the month also marks the start for the annual Faith and Values Appeal for Catholic Education. The appeal helps families with tuition assistance in an effort to bridge the gap in tuition payments that families are unable to meet due to life’s circumstances such as illness, divorce and job loss.
The need for tuition assistance throughout Northeast Ohio continues to grow. Every donation made to the Faith and Values Appeal directly supports a student within our Catholic community. A high school freshman reflected on their appreciation after learning of their financial assistance award: “My freshman year exceeded all expectations thanks to this generous gift. I am so blessed to be given this opportunity and am excited to see what the next three years has in store me.”
In June, The Wall Street Journal published an article titled, “The Catholic School Difference.” It provided insight as to how Catholic schools are changing the lives of children and their families. From correlating how self-discipline taught in Catholic schools generates better behavior in students, to chronicling increased student achievement in higher graduation rates and college enrollment, the article demonstrated how Catholic schools make a profound impact on a child’s life.
