The Feast of the Assumption had special meaning for two Mercedarian Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.
Sister Yvelyne Marie and Sister Kathryne of the Holy Trinity professed their first vows during the 6 p.m. Mass on Aug. 15 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel West Church in Cleveland. Bishop Nelson Perez was the celebrant. Concelebrants included Father Michael Woost of Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology; Father Richard Rasch, O.de M., Mount Carmel pastor; Father Daniel Schlegel, vicar for clergy and religious, Diocese of Cleveland; Father David Ruchinski; priests from the Order of Our Lady of Mercy and priests from the diocese. Representatives of other women religious orders also attended.
The sisters made one-year vows affirming their consent to be part of the congregation and pledging poverty, chastity and obedience as they live in communion with other sisters to witness to the world.
During the entrance procession, their mothers each carried a small silver tray with a black veil, a medal and a crucifix, items that were given to the sisters during the Mass.
Bishop Perez thanked Sister Yvelyne and Sister Kathryne for listening and answering God?s call to religious life. He also acknowledged their family members who were in attendance
