Bishop Nelson Perez will celebrate the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Sept. 1 at St. Clarence Church in North Olmsted for Father Thomas A. Flynn. Father Allan Laubenthal will be the homilist.

Bishop Martin Amos will preside at vespers at 3 p.m. Aug. 31 at St. Clarence Church and Father Joseph Callahan will be the homilist.

The wake will begin after vespers on Aug. 31, continuing until 8 p.m. Visitation also will be 9:30-10:45 a.m. Sept. 1 at St. Clarence.

Father Flynn, 86, was pastor emeritus of St. Clarence Parish. He died on Aug. 26.

He was born on May 19, 1932 to the late Thomas Joseph and Anna T. (Feeney). Father Flynn was educated at St. Joseph Elementary School, Collinwood; Cathedral Latin High School, Cleveland; St. Gregory Seminary, Cincinnati; Borromeo Seminary, Wickliffe; and St. Mary, Cleveland.

Bishop John J. Krol ordained him to the priesthood for service to the Diocese of Cleveland on May 28, 1960 in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Father Flynn?s first assignment was as parochial vicar of St. Mel Parish in Cleveland. In addition to that assignment, he was appointed chaplain of the Ohio State Chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians on July 6, 1964. He was transferred on June 10, 1965, to St. Rita Parish in Solon to serve as parochial vicar. Father Flynn was assigned to serve St. Richard, North Olmsted as parochial vicar on June 24, 1971, and on June 24, 1976 he was assigned as parochial vicar of St. Mark, Cleveland.

Father Flynn was named the first pastor of St. Clarence Parish on June 22, 1978. He retired on Nov. 10, 2003 and was named pastor emeritus of St. Clarence Parish.

He will be missed by many. His kind smile, great stories, love for the priesthood and those entrusted to his care and his love for the ?motherland? will always be remembered.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland.
